American Truck Driving School (ATDS) is registered as a Private Career College under the Private Career College Act 2005, offering Ministry-approved truck driving courses to all interested in pursuing a career in the trucking and logistics industry.

At ATDS, we provide a safe professional learning environment for all. Our team consists of instructors with 5+ years of real-world driving experience accumulated throughout the province, country, and continent. With extensive knowledge in commercial driving, we prepare our students to become safer, more confident, and more successful drivers.

MELT Program:

Offering approved A-Z License M.E.L.T Approved training as per the Ontario Commercial Truck Driver Training Standard, 2016. as issued by the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario.

The MELT Program consists of:

  • At least 103.5 hours of instruction from a recognized institution.
    1. Designating 36.5 hours for classroom time
    2. IN-YARD PRACTICAL TRAINING – 13 hours total
    3. IN-YARD BEHIND THE WHEEL PRACTICAL TRAINING – 9 hours total
    4. IN-CAB BEHIND THE WHEEL PRACTICAL TRAINING – 45 hours total
  • Covers the entry-level knowledge and skills essential to operate a commercial truck safely on Ontario’s roads.
  • Once the student has graduated, their driving record will be updated automatically. They now become eligible to take a Class A road test at a DriveTest Centre.
  • The training will be valid for life.

This is 2-day course is offered weekly. Participants are taught the following:

  • How the air brake system works.
  • How to identify defects in the airbrake system.
  • How to operate the air brake system.

Our Air Brake “Z” endorsement course consists of in-house training and testing, which means no air brake testing at the DriveTest Center is required. Simply take your completion certificate to any DriveTest office in Ontario and they will add the Z Endorsement to your license.

Procedure

  1. Attain an Ontario G class driver’s licence (Temporary Paper License is Acceptable)
  2. Enrol in our airbrake class by calling (647)949-5353.
  3. Complete the medical examination (special discount for our students).
  4. Pass the Rules and Signs Test at your local DriveTest Centre.
  5. Enrol with us – Special deals for newcomers.
